Grand Valley State University (GVSU) – Energy-Efficient Humidification with MeeFog
Universities
Project Summary:
Grand Valley State University (GVSU) use a centralized MeeFog humidification system to achieve a 38% reduction in energy usage compared to ASHRAE baseline standards. By consuming only 1% of the energy required by traditional steam humidifiers, the system drastically reduces energy costs while maintaining precise humidity control.
GVSU primarily uses MeeFog humidification during winter, though it can also be used to maintain tight humidity control year round in environments such as laboratories, galleries and theaters where dry air could otherwise damage artwork and musical instruments.
Project Conditions:
Location: Allendale, MI.
Pump unit: Stainless steel belt driven.
Control: 5 Valve control panel receiving analog demand signal from customers BMS.
Pump pressure: 1,000 PSI, VFD and pressure transducer.
Fog System Design:
• MeeFog nozzle count: 191
• Humidification capacity: 952 #/hr • Max. water flow: 6.1 gpm
• Max. fog system power: 7.5 HP
