U.S. Embassy Cools Diesel Generators with MeeFog

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan needed to cool two large rooms that house the diesel generators that power the embassy. They installed eight MeeFog systems to provide 36°F of evaporative cooling for each of the eight air inlet serving the 2-MW diesel generator. Each inlet has a fog system consisting of a 1000-psi fog pump unit, staging valves, interconnecting feedlines and a fog nozzle array.

Project Conditions:

Location: Kabul, Afghanistan
Hot day conditions: 93.5 °F and 11% RH
Model: Diesel Generators
Elevation: 6,000 feet
Mee’s scope of work: Equipment supply
Max cooling per Generator: 36°F

Fog System Design:

Cooling Stages: 8
Operating Pressure: 1,000 psig
Fog Droplet Size: 10 microns (D32)
MeeFog™ Nozzle Count: 780
Nozzle Flow Rate: 0.013 gpm
Max. Skid Water Flow: 6.9 gpm
