3 MW Power Boost for LM 6000 Gas Turbine in Mexico

  • Blue gradient city outlined in white to show wet compression for gas turbines

Procter & Gamble in Mexico installed a MeeFog evaporative cooling system in their LM 6000 gas turbine in 2006. In 2013 they expanded their system by adding another pump and additional nozzles. The Meefog skid has two pumps and provides five stages of fogging, producing a 3 MW power boost.

Project Conditions:

Location: Apizaco Tlaxcala, Mexico
Hot day conditions: 23.3° C with 14.5° C wet bulb
Elevation: 2,444 meters above sea level
Mee’s scope of work: Supervision during installation and commissioning
Max power boost per GT: 3 MW

Fog System Design:

Fogging stages: 5
Operating pressure: 2,000 psi
Fog droplet size: 12 microns
Nozzle flow rate: 0.17 lpm per nozzle
MeeFog nozzle count: 260
Pump skid power: 20 HP
