Texas Plant Gains 2.6 MW with LM-2500 GT

  • Blue gradient city outlined in white to show wet compression for gas turbines

This MeeFog installation in 1997 was on an General Electric LM2500 that drives air compressors at a gas plant. It was designed for evaporative cooling and overspray (wet compression). According to the operator, the system has been used every summer for over 23 years with no negative impact to the gas turbine.

Project Conditions:

Location: Hawkins, Texas
Hot day conditions: 100 °F and 32% RH (75 °F wet bulb)
Model: LM-2500 Gas Turbine
Elevation: 410 feet
Mee’s scope of work: Design, build, supervise, installation
Max power boost per GT: 2.6 MW

Fog System Design:

Cooling Stages: 3
Operating Pressure: 2,000 psi
Fog Droplet Size: 19 micron (DV 90)
