32 MW Power Boost On a Siemens Westinghouse W501FC

  • Blue gradient city outlined in white to show wet compression for gas turbines

A power station in Mexico installed two MeeFog systems on a Siemens Westinghouse W501FC gas turbine. These systems provide fog evaporative cooling and wet compression. The skids have six pumps and twenty-four stages of fogging. They produce a 32 MW power boost total, demonstrating the efficiency and performance benefits of MeeFog technology.

Project Conditions:

Location: Sonora, Mexico
Model: SW501FC
Elevation: 244 m ASL
Max Power Boost: 32 MW
Mee’s scope of work: Supply of fog pump skid, nozzle manifolds, supervision of installation and commissioning.

Fog System Design:

Cooling Capacity: 26.9°C + 0.4% wet compression
MeeFog™ nozzle count: 2,376
Operating Pressure: 2,000 psi
Nozzle flow rate: 0.17 lpm (0.045 gpm)
Total Skid Flow: 404 lpm (107 gpm)
Max Power Requirement: 180 hp
Cooling Stages: 24 stages, 1.56 °C (2.8 °F) per stage
